Top ten lists are going to be a common occurrence here at TET and what better way to start off this tradition, than with a list of our favorite pageants that you've never heard of....Check out this link for my information on these little gifts from the pageant gods....
1. Miss Klingon Empire
This pageant is held annually in Atlanta at the Drag*con Event and was recognized as one of the Top 11 Offbeat Beauty Pageants two years in a row. As a not-so-proud daughter of a trekkie, I have a special, um...appreciation for this event.
2. Miss Plastic Surgery
My fellow contributor and I were actually discussing the idea of a Miss Plastic Surgery Pageant the other night and thought we had come up with a groundbreaking idea...turns out the folks in China beat us on this one (not sure if I should be sad that we were not the ones to come up with the idea.....or scared that this event has actually already been held). The pageant was a one-time event held in China in 2004. You know what that means...someone can still hold the FIRST annual Miss Plastic Surgery Pageant in the good ole' U.S. of A.....
3. Miss Pregnant Contest
When I discovered this was actually a pageant, I had one question....why did Britney Spears not enter when she was pregnant with Sean and/or Jayden. She would have had this in the bag. Every contestant is required to wear a bathing suit...the picture below says it all:
If you or someone you know is interested in participating in this classy event, please click here for more information. Word is these events haven't hit mainstream yet, but from my research I discovered they are not surprisingly popular in California and Florida (states where, I believe, Miss Plastic Surgery should be relaunched). There was also a job posting for a Miss Pregnant Contest in Alabama

Carrie Prejean - the hits never stop
Was on my way to work this week, and stumbled upon the most wonderful distraction EVER. AC 360 on Ryan Seacrest (Seacrest, out) discussing Carrie Prejean on Larry King. That's right Anderson Cooper 360. Apparently AC was in the studio waiting to appear on the show after Carrie. AC confirmed that she, as we suspected, is a complete lunatic. Seacrest even got Larry King on the line to ask about the encounter. He said that in all the years he has had his show, NO ONE has ever called him inappropriate. And as we all know since Larry is 140 years old, that is a loooong time to go without being inappropriate. All those years of him interviewing megastars (See Barack Obama), drunks (See Courtney Love, Lindsay Lohan, Whitney Houston), drug addicts (See Courtney Love, Lindsay Lohan, Whitney Houston), narcissistic celebrities (see Speidi AND Courtney Love, Lindsay Lohan, Whitney Houston), and some tall blonde evil tiara wearing jesus following porn tape making beauty queen ruins it. Shame on you Carrie!

Carrie Prejean sits next to Larry King
Carrie Prejean talked to sat next to Larry King. Here is a recap of how that informative interview went.
Carrie: Great to be here promoting my new book, Larry.
Larry: Great to have you Carrie. Let's get to it. How are you today?
Carrie: Larry! You are being inappropriate here.
Larry: I'm sorry, let's move on. Thanks for being here - I read your new book and I'd like to ask you some questions.
Carrie: Larry! Really you are making me feel uncomfortable.
Larry: Well Carrie, perhaps you would like to tell our viewers about your story.
Carrie: Larry! Your level of inappropriate just went skyhigh. I will not sit here while you talk to me this way. I'm getting up and leaving.
Larry: (silence)
Carrie: Seriously Larry, I am taking off this mic and leaving.
Larry: (silence)
Ok Ok, you get the idea. I am sending out a plea to Carrie - Carrie: you need to find a way to give that hour back to Larry - he doesn't have many more.

Our First Live Pageant--Miss Long Beach!!!
We had the pleasure of attending our first live pageant...and what a treat it was! We got the call that our friend's younger sister was trying out for Miss Long Beach, and of course bought our tickets immediately. We definitely could not pass the opportunity to see a live pageant ESPECIALLY when we knew someone who knew was related to one of the contestants....The evening started off with us walking down a red carpet, into a room that threw up pink all over itself. Amongst the crowns being awarded that night were Little Miss Long Beach, Miss Teen Long Beach, Miss Long Beach, and Mrs. Long Beach. The highlight of course was Elisa Sabes (our dear friend Ilana's sister, and the reason we attended this glorious event) winning Miss Long Beach, but there were MANY other highlights as well.
Here are some of the best quotes / moments of the evening:
1. Elisa winning Miss Long Beach--CONGRATULATIONS!
2.The Future of America:The WINNER of Little Miss Long Beach said the following, and still managed to win the crown:
"When I grow up I want to be a cheerleader for Jesus"
My hair is my favorite part about me because "people say it is pretty"
Now, I want to cut this girl some slack, and I am going to since she is 5 years old, but I do fear for what other brilliant words this girl will have to say in the future.
Little Miss Long Beach and her pretty hair:
3. Geography 101: When asked what countries she had visited, a contestant for Miss Long Beach (age 20 and above), answered the following: Rome and the South of France. A separate Miss Long Beach contestant informed the crowd that she grew up in the small town of Minnesota.
4. Ryan Seacrest 2.0-the Christian, taller, more wholesome Ryan Seacrest. The MC for evening was Justin Rudd This guy may or may not be as busy as our friend Ryan Seacrest. Throughout the evening he plugged all of his charities, informed us of the fact that he does not do drugs or drink alcohol, AND let us know he is a pageant coach. I hate to say it...but he might be giving Ryan Seacrest a run for his money. see http://www.justinrudd.com/ for more info on the Ryan Seacrest 2.0.
5. Mrs. Long Beach. the fact that there is Mrs. Long Beach in and of itself deserves to be discussed. These are grown women (many of them with children) who decide that in order to fill a void in their lives decide to join a pageant where they are required to walk down
Many of these women were beautiful, smart, successful women and we are still trying to figure out why they sign up for this. All of that aside, we believe one Mrs. was ROBBED from the title. This woman was the Angelina Jolie of Mrs. pageants. She not only started a restaurant in China and learned Chinese, she has 2 children (or more), a bangin' body and was very eloquent.
6. PHOTO HIGHLIGHTS!!!
Miss Teen Long Beach contestants and our very own Ryan Seacrest, Justin Rudd
Mrs. Long Beach--the woman who was robbed is not pictured here.
